LFW: Day One

This is the Mulberry for LFW shopper that everyone gets when they register at Somerset House.

They're as ubiquitous at fashion week as heels and street style photographers. Last season was all about a rabbit peeking out from an illustrated Alexa bag. This time is bag of the season, the Tillie. And joining it is a fox nibbling on an apple.

I finally made it out of the office to a few shows this afternoon. My favourites were Sass & Bide and Felder.Felder.

Sass & Bide's show was like a blast of winter sun.

A riot of colour (magenta, coral, terracotta, neons) and tribal prints with painted neon armbands, sequins, beading, fierce necklaces and great, sculptural hats.

With VV Brown, Poppy Delevingne, Paloma Faith, Julia Restoin Roitfeld and Twiggy in the front row and Nicki Minaj blasting from the speakers there was a lot of love for the new season in the room.

Over at Felder.Felder things were more muted with the colour palette a chic and sombre black, white, grey, petrol and "night". The show was titled The Transformation Collection and was inspired by nature - from prints of owl feathers and eisblume (delicate flowers) blown up to abstract proportions to the dip-dyed hair embellishing shoulders and cuffs.

There were plenty of stand-out pieces for fans like Rihanna and Allison Mosshart: biker jackets, tailored dresses scattered with crystals and black leather corset tops. Studding and harness details finished the rock chick look.

And so to bed for an early night before a very long day tomorrow starting with Charles Anastase ...
